What it is

A takeout-only New York-style pizza operation run by the Lancaster Smokehouse crew out of the back of their own building — order online or ring the doorbell at the rear entrance, collect your pie at the window, follow the “Happy Slice” mascot if in doubt.

Why locals rate it

The pizza is exactly what the format promises and the region mostly lacked: big, thin, foldable pies with a proper char, restrained sauce, and no gimmicks. Coming from a kitchen that already understands fire and patience, the fundamentals — dough fermentation, bake temperature, cheese quality — are treated seriously without the artisanal theatre. It has quietly become the local consensus answer to “just great pizza, no ceremony”, and the vodka pie has a following well beyond the neighbourhood.

What to order

The vodka pizza topped with torn basil is the signature; the classic cheese is the benchmark that proves the dough. Whole pies are the play (this is takeout, not a slice counter in the Manhattan sense), and the catering menu makes it the easiest party order in the city.

Insider tip

Pair the pickup with the front of the building: pizza night this week, smokehouse dinner the next. Call ahead or order online — bake times stretch on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Heads-up

Takeout only, with no dining room and a pickup door that’s easy to miss on your first visit (drive around the back and look for the sign). Check their hours before heading over — the window keeps its own schedule, separate from the Smokehouse.
