Borealis Grille & Bar
Ontario-sourced comfort food in a big, handsome Sportsworld room — the crowd-pleaser that shows its ingredient receipts.

What it is
A large grill-and-bar at Sportsworld Crossing built on a local-first sourcing philosophy — Ontario farms named on the menu, regional craft taps, cocktails on tap — serving weekend brunch, daily features and a broad comfort-food menu that runs from fried chicken Thursdays to prime rib dinners.
Why locals rate it
Borealis solves the everyone’s-happy problem better than any restaurant on the east side: parents, teenagers, vegetarians and the friend who only orders wings all find a lane, and the kitchen documents where its beef, produce and beer come from in a way most crowd-pleasers never bother to. Daily features (taco Tuesdays, date-night Wednesdays, happy hour with $10 apps) keep the value sharp, and the room is comfortable enough that nobody’s rushing you out.
What to order
Fried chicken on Thursdays is the feature worth planning around; brunch on weekends is the other. Otherwise the Ontario beef burger and the rotating local-ingredient features are the kitchen at its most convincing, and the tap list deserves a look before you default to the usual.
Insider tip
It sits in the same Sportsworld plaza as the NextGen VR arena and Pierogi House — which makes it the natural dinner half of an evening plan on the King Street East strip.
Heads-up
It’s a polished chain-scale operation (there’s a Guelph sibling), so expect competent-and-comfortable rather than chef-driven surprise. On game nights and weekends the room runs loud and full.
